How to Use the MM400 Mixer Mill
The MM400 Mixer Mill is designed for fast and efficient grinding, mixing, and homogenization of small sample volumes. It is used in biotechnology, materials science, and analytical applications where precise sample preparation is required.
1. Preparing the Sample
- Choose a suitable grinding jar and balls based on the sample type and required particle size.
- Do not overfill the jar keep the sample volume below two-thirds of the jar capacity for optimal movement.
- If the sample is temperature-sensitive, pre-cool the jars to prevent overheating.
2. Loading the Grinding Jars
- Open the safety cover and place the grinding jars in the holders.
- Ensure the jars are securely clamped to avoid movement during operation.
- Close the cover the mill will not start if the cover is not properly locked.
3. Setting the Grinding Parameters
- Turn on the unit and adjust the oscillation frequency (3 to 30 Hz).
- Set the grinding duration (10 seconds to 99 minutes) using the digital timer.
- If multiple grinding cycles are required, use the pause function to avoid sample overheating.
4. Running the Grinding Process
- Press the start button to begin the grinding process.
- The electronic speed control maintains a stable frequency throughout the operation.
- Monitor the process through the transparent safety cover if needed.
5. Retrieving the Processed Sample
- When the grinding cycle is complete, the unit will stop automatically.
- Open the safety cover the electronic brake ensures the system stops within one second.
- Carefully remove the jars and extract the processed sample.
6. Cleaning and Maintenance
- Empty and clean the jars and grinding balls immediately to prevent contamination.
- Wipe the unit with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust or sample residue.
- Store grinding accessories properly for long-term use.
